Although we are currently "closed" for the 2020 growing season we will be ramping up in a few weeks with early starter plants, seed orders and planning stages. We are working with Cornell to get state/FDA approval for some of our items that will be produced in our commercial kitchen. Our "Annie" is content just to be under the warm couch blanket all winter. If you havent visited the farm yet, she is our dog that greets and loves everyone! |

We are finally back on track all the way around! Spring has arrived for us, some outdoor items were planted yesterday at the East Otto location on Hammond Hill Rd. It is not an easy process to transition a farm, quite time consuming actually, long term items like strawberries and asparagus and wild crops have to be replanted or transplanted. So although this has been done, they wont perform for another year or two, so will be getting those previously planted items from East Otto this year as we are still leasing some land we have been using for the last 4 years. It has been a very, very wet early spring so far, we havent been able to plow the new property on Fairview yet, but should be able to within 5-7 days if the weather report stays true. The chickens are over here now, as are baby pigs arriving in about 3 weeks, quail arrive the first week in June, as do the baby turkeys. It's been very exciting and fun, remodeling the house, moving smaller animal buildings, painting, etc. Should have the new siding on the house in about six more weeks, as always weather pending. The history of the new property is quite interesting, Cheri is the first person outside of the Byington family to farm or own the land for 3 generations, the farmhouse is the original house built in 1882 with updates and additions of course, but inside still has much of the original woodwork as does the basement and even a wood fired kitchen stove from 1940 is still in use. CSA Shares registration for spring and summer is closed and full for the 2017 season, the fall shares are still open, although the only options for the fall/winter shares is pickup on Fairview road or delivery for $5 per week (awesome convenience!). Please feel free to ask any questions you might have regarding the CSA program. We will now be able to use the blog regularlly again now that the website is fully working, we had alot of problems over about a years period (I am a farmer not a technologically advanced person), I had a professional come in and clean things up and show me how to fix bugs as they arise. Hooray! See you at Hamburg Farmer's market beginning May 6th, 2017 for this season. Cheri |
